Carat Collecting Guide

Most of the really good heroes you will get come from praying and hoping you get a high-grade hero from carats. Thirty(30) carats will get you a random 2★-6★ hero, while 300 carats will get you 11 heroes with a guaranteed epic (4★) hero.

So then, how do you get carats?
Here are some quick tips on how to get the most carats you can:

1. Mastering heroes: To "master" a hero is to level up a hero to level 30. The first time you master a new hero, your maximum honor points will increase by 5 and you will get 5 carats! Therefore you should aim to master EVERY hero you come across. Even the 1★ and 2★ ones! This may sound like a pain but it is relatively easy to do once you have unlocked Mission 7-1. It is commonly known that mission 7-1 is the easiest mission to level up heroes, as the ghosts are relatively weak and easy to beat. Simply bring a few of your strong heroes and your unmastered ones to level them up quick for carats.
2. Quests: Some quests will reward you with carats for reaching certain milestones. Keep an eye out on your progress towards each quest completion and try to focus on making progress for multiple quests at once. Quests will eventually become harder to finish but the carat rewards will also increase. In addition to the achievement/milestone quests however, is the Consecutive Completion Quest. Viewable at the right side on the home screen, completing the daily quest 7 times in a row will earn you an extra 10 carats!

3. Boss Raids: Carats are awarded at the end of each boss raid depending on your rank. The higher you rank the better the rewards. A good source of carats and is better than the Arena, in my opinion, as Boss Raids happen more frequently and less people participate in them, allowing for more carats. Check out the boss raid guides on how to do well in boss raids.

4. Arena: Similar to boss raids, carats are awarded at the end of each arena season. Rewards are given depending on rank, with high ranks giving more carats, just like boss raids. I prefer boss raids to arena, but between boss raids it is the place to go to spend the rest of your energy.

5. Dungeons: Some dungeon floors will reward you with carats once you have beaten them. Floors will eventually get harder however, and the rewards will increase along with them. Currently, 255 carats can be earned the the dungeon, from clearing up to dungeon level 75. Check out the Dungeon Rewards page for more information.

6. Mining: The miners slaving away down in the carat mines will net you 1 carat every time the timers runs out. The mining time lowers by 20 minutes every time you level up your player level, so eventually you will be able to mine faster at higher levels. Even then, 1 carat is not a lot but will add up quickly.

7. Referrals: Refering someone to the game is when they put your username under "Recommender" when they first play the game. For each person you refer to the game, you will get 5 carats, limited up to 30 people. So a maximum of 150 carats can be earned by refering people.
(I have already referred 30 people so I don't get any more carats, but feel free to leave your username down below.)

8. Events: Every now and then there will be events for Hello Hero that give carats. Keep an eye on for them in game or on the Hello Hero facebook page.

9. Carat Shop: Obviously, the other option is to purchase carats. You can buy carats at the carat shop and can get more carats for each dollar the more you buy at once. I have not yet spent a single dime in the carat shop, and am currently enjoying the game hunting down heroes without buying carats. Don't get disappointed though if you decide to spend money and get crappy heroes however. Rare heroes are rare for a reason, and the developers have to get paid somehow. It is a free-to-play game and spending money on the game is entirely up to you.
